The squad was revealed on Thursday afternoon ahead of the players arriving in camp on Monday morning after this weekend’s national club fixtures.

Southgate has selected a group with a blend of youth and knowledge, with 13 players set for their first World Cup and an additional three heading to their maiden senior major competition, in Conor Gallagher, James Maddison and Callum Wilson – although Gallagher does have an Under-17 World Cup winner’s medal to his name from 2017 when Phil Foden was also named player of the competition.

At the 2018 Football World Cup, England had the joint second newest squad when it came to average age at 26 and the Three Lions have named another youthful group of players, with an average age of 26.4. England’s coaching staff will head to St. George’s Park at the weekend, before the players’ influx on Monday. They will then fly to Qatar on Tuesday ahead of the Three Lions’ opening Group B match against Iran at the Khalifa International Ground on Monday 21 November (kick-off 11 pm GMT).

Gareth Southgate distributed another Football World Cup injury blow as England’s plans unravel

Gareth Southgate will name his 26-man England team for the Football World Cup on Thursday, but he has been forced to alteration his plans yet again after another wound blows England boss Gareth Southgate has been dealt yet additional injury blow after Ben Chilwell was ruled out of the World Cup.

Ben will begin a reintegration program with the club’s medical section."

Chilwell released his declaration after the news broke, plaintive about the fact he would not be able to fulfil his dream of playing at a World Cup. He maintained he will try to return to fitness as soon as likely, though it is likely he will not play until the New Year. "Following my ACL wound I worked so hard to make sure I was prepared for the Football World Cup. It has always been a dream of mine. Inopportunely, this won’t be possible following my scan consequences," he wrote in a post on social media.

"England factually doesn’t respond well to pressure and expectation. But now with the team we know, they know they're accomplished. They've been to a semifinal, and they've been to a final. So, the team will be dissatisfied with less," he told La Repubblica.

"We think we can have a really exciting competition and take the fans on another journey. But we also know that there are a lot of 50-50 competitions. That's the challenge for us to be the better team in those big competitions." England's World Cup movement will begin on 21 November with a clash against Iran at Khalifa International Stadium. They will then take on the United States and Wales.
