In some good news for South Africa T20 World Cup captain
Temba Bavuma has healthier completely from the elbow injury he sustained during
the T20I series against India in June and is set to principal the Proteas in a
second World Cup in a row. Rilee Rossow, who made his recurrence to the South
Africa T20I setup after a gap of six years in July, also finds a place in the team.
The same 15-member team is set to portable to India for the
three-match T20I series later this month ahead of the World Cup. Speaking on
the squad group, CSA Convenor of Selectors Victor Mpitsang said: This has been
a tough squad to choose, simply because we had so many players in outstanding
form over the past few months and execution at a level that made the choosers
sit up and notice them.

Bangladesh: Bangladesh to play against UAE in T20 World Cup build-up
DHAKA: Bangladesh will play two Twenty20 international competitions against the United Arab Emirates as a portion of their build-up for the World Cup in Australia, the country’s cricket board said Thursday. The two competitions will be held on September 25 and 27 in Dubai, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said in a joint account with its UAE counterpart Emirates Cricket Board.
“This tour will be a significant part of Bangladesh team’s lead up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia,”
said BCB chief executive major Nizam Uddin
Chowdhury.
Bangladesh has met the UAE in cricket’s direct format only
once previously, winning at home by 51 runs in 2016. Both teams will contribute
to the T20 World Cup in Australia, starting on October 16. The UAE will play in
the preliminary round of Group A alongside Asian champions Sri Lanka, Namibia,
and the Netherlands.
Two teams from each of the two initial round groups will
qualify for the second round. Bangladesh will seem in the second round of Group
2 alongside India, Pakistan, South Africa, and two qualifiers. Bangladesh also
will play a tri-nation tournament in New Zealand connecting the hosts and Pakistan
before traveling to Australia for the T20 World Cup.

DHAKA: Bangladesh on Wednesday axed previous T20 World Cup
cricket captain Mahmudullah Riyad and recalled batsman Najmul Hossain in a
shake-up to its stressed Twenty20 squad ahead of next month’s World Cup in
Australia. This month’s unacceptable Asia Cup campaign highlighted the team’s
20-over woes, with Bangladesh turfed out in the group stage after losing to
Afghanistan and ultimate winners Sri Lanka. Mahmudullah’s attendance was under
a cloud after a lackluster 151 runs across his eight-match arrivals in 2022.
Indian cricketer Sridharan Sriram, chosen last month as the team’s T20 consultant, said it was time for the team to think of its upcoming beyond the 36-year-old.
“I think this was the correct time for all of us to come together and think of. who can fill in the large shoes of Mahmudullah,”
he said. Chief picker Minhajul Abedin hailed Mahmudullah’s best but added that the decision to omit the all-rounder from the squad was common.
“We admire Mahmudullah who has played well for the national team,” he said. “We haven’t been doing well in this arrangement,”
Minhajul added.
