Despite anxieties about his game not being suited to the
shortest format, the 33-year-old trusts that he can be a valued asset in
national colours, as shown by a knock of 37* (27) to assist the side to a
series win against Sri Lanka in June.
“I touch like when I'm playing good T20 cricket, I'm in that squad for unquestionable,"
Smith told journalists
on Tuesday. I think the role that I've been given in a previous couple of

take the ready on and if I want to smack someone for six first balls, then I'm
able to do that freely. When I'm playing my best, I play easily. I watch
the ball and hit the gaps and just look to use the middle of my bat as much as likely.

Australia's preparations for the competition meanwhile have
been struck a minor blow with news of Mitchell Marsh’s treatment for an ankle injury.
Set to miss ODI Super League matches against Zimbabwe and New Zealand, the
Australians are eager to take the all-rounder to India in late September, with
a three-match T20I series ideal preparation for their competition defence.

Marsh is a rival to Smith T20 World Cup Player for the No.3 spot, though Smith documented his team-mate will play a big part in the home campaign.
“It’s not ideal for Mitch. He's been playing some really good white-ball cricket lately."

Milne was part of last year's competition in the UAE after
being called up as a replacement for Lockie Ferguson. During a career episodic
by injuries, he has taken 32 wickets at 26.68 in 31 T20Is. He forms the
frontline pace choices alongside Ferguson, Tim Southee and Trent Boult. New
Zealand coach Gary Stead said they will want to see how Milne went in the
tri-series against Pakistan and Bangladesh initial next month but was confident
he would be prepared for the World Cup.
We've had a lot of chats with Adam and the medical crew around him and we are confident that if everything goes well for him that he'll be obtainable for the tri-series games beforehand, Stead said.
"I deduction that's eventually a final test for him to make sure he's where we want to be. We believe he'll be ready and that's why he was nominated."
Also included in the 15-player team are Finn
Allen and Michael Bracewell who will seem at their first T20
World Cup. Devon Conway will be the front wicketkeeper while Mark Chapman and
Ish Sodhi retain their places. There is no specialist back-up for Conway with
the ornaments, but Stead indicated that Allen or Glenn Phillips could step in
if needed at petite notice.

"We felt that in the last World Cup that Devon did an admirable
job and you expect in Australia that perhaps even fewer balls will go through
to the keeper," he said. Allen, the hard-hitting opening batter, has made
a talented start to his international career and already has a T20I hundred -
101 off 56 balls against Scotland - while striking at 169.54 from his 13 competitions.

“I’ll hold those cards near to my chest on what we will do [with opening], but think we'll see throughout the tri-series we'll be trying a few dissimilar people there,"
Kyle Jamieson was not considered for collection as he
continues his recovery from the back injury he picked up in England. Guptill
will become the first New Zealander to seem at seven men's T20 World Cups. The
same team will play the T20 tri-series connecting Pakistan and Bangladesh which
will be staged early next month in Christchurch although extra players may be
called in to achieve the workloads of those heading to Australia.
"Along with the all-significant game time, those matches will be a great chance to refine our combinations and game plans ahead of our leaving to Australia,"
