T20 World Cup 2021: Finch confident over Australia to win with underdone team.

Finch said he is confident underdone Australia can still win the T20 World cup.

Many Australian players have not prepared for T20 World Cup. Some players have skipped the ODI tours to Bangladesh and West Indies and also did not play for IPL. IPL is being played in the United Arab Emirates and several matches of the T20 world cup are going to be played there.

Right-arm fast bowler Pat Cummins has not played any match since April this year. On the other hand, Aaron Finch leading batsman has also not played for long due to his knee surgery.

Marcus Stoinis is suffering from a hamstring strain. Steve Smith has only played a little-bit part of IPL from the Delhi Capital team.

Australia will only play two warmup matches against New Zealand and India. Their first match of T20 World Cup is against South Africa on Oct 23.

“The two warmup matches and to lead-in the World Cup is going to be crucial,” Finch told reporters.

“It’s a difficult one because training indoors or training just in the nets has no comparison obviously to game intensity. But I’ve got a lot of confidence in the experience of the group,”

“We’ve got guys who have come off long layoffs before, we’ve got guys who have come off injuries before,”

“And it’s not all that much different when you’re trying to get yourself up to speed quickly.”

Finch said he is recovering from his knee surgery and expected to be fit for warmup matches against New Zealand and India.

Finch also show confidence in David Warner to open with him in World Cup. David Warner was dropped in IPL by Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Australia is a five times ODI World Cup winner but they have not performed up to the mark in T20 World Cup. Their best is that they have finished T20 World Cup as runner-up in the 2010 T20 World Cup.

“We know if we play to our best we’re going to be hard to beat… We’ve just got to be at our best at the right time.” He said.
