JOHANNESBURG
SA Rugby Chief Executive Jurie Roux says the British and Irish Lions tour to
South Africa next year is the most important thing in rugby after the Rugby
World Cup. Rugby enthusiasts can book British and Irish Lions Tour Tickets
on our website on exclusively discounted prices.
"I can
talk about the British and Irish Lions for a long time. After the Rugby World
Cup, it is probably the most important thing in rugby and we have the
opportunity to play them only once every 12 years," said Roux after the
tour will continue next year.

The most
important thing at this stage is that the tour continues. There may be a change
of date, but we can manage it. The Olympics, scheduled for Tokyo this year,
have already been postponed until 2021, while many of the major annual sporting
events have been rescheduled for later in the year or canceled entirely in
2020.
We are very
excited to welcome them to South Africa, but also a completely different
business model: We basically broke the textbook and shared revenue, logos,
intellectual property, and business value with the Lions.
"This
is something that will be very useful in a post-COVID world in terms of the revenue
it will generate for us, and it will also help us operate as a going
concern."
British and Irish
Lions
Joel
Stransky, winner of the Springbok RWC in 1995, missed the game against the
British and Irish Lions in 1997, when he was playing club rugby for the English
giants, Leicester. Many of his partners in the Tigers in England toured South
Africa with the Lions in 1997, including Captain Martin Johnson, and Stransky
gained a unique insight into how the other boys view the tour.

"Once
every four years, players and fans from different nations come together, join
hands, put aside their differences and combine as they try to beat one of the
old enemies of the southern hemisphere," Stransky said on the SA Rugby
Podcast.
“The Lions
are steeped in tradition, culture, respect, and absolute loyalty to that
magnificent red jersey: you can never take it for granted or underestimate it. Next
year will be just magnificent: they will come here with a very strong team and
thousands and thousands of followers will make the trip to enjoy our country and
be part of this great tour.”
