Why getting Gareth Bale back just wouldn’t make sense for
Tottenham
Our Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has done
his latest question and answer session with the latest burning questions from
Spurs fans. On the agenda was the potential of Bale returning to the club and
which players the club might sacrifice in a swap deal, but the logistics of any
such deal just wouldn’t make any sense. Champions League fans around the world
can buy online Champions League Final Tickets to enjoy its stunning performances.
"For me, other than an unlikely loan with Real paying
most of his wages, most kind of Spurs deals for Gareth Bale just don't make
sense at his age,” writes Gold.
"Aside from the fact that he reportedly earns £625,000 a
week - three times Harry Kane's reported salary - and his agent has repeatedly
said he's not coming back to Tottenham, it's just not an area that Tottenham
need someone in.
"Bale, who turns 31 this summer, is still a very good
player despite the injury problems of recent seasons, but Tottenham are
overloaded with attacking midfielders and have only just added Steven Bergwijn
to their ranks.
"I know many Spurs fans would love to have the Welshman
back, but there are many other areas that Mourinho needs fixing in his squad as
any funds available thrown at."
The Son Heung-min selection dilemma Jose Mourinho
faces when the Premier League returns
With news emerging of the Premier League’s ‘Project Restart’
plan and an aim of June 8th as a return date, top-level clubs can start putting
together training plans and schedules.
One potential positive for Tottenham and Jose Mourinho would
be the time off alleviating the injury crisis at the club, with the potential
for Harry Kane to play a part in the remainder of the season.
The 34-year-old was a vital figure for Diego Simeone’s
Atletico Madrid as they upset the odds to beat Barcelona and Real Madrid to the
La Liga title in 2014, also reaching two Champions League finals, but he left
to join Antonio Conte’s project at Inter last summer.
But he lost his place in Conte’s side after struggling to
adapt to the Italian’s favoured back three, and it’s said he could potentially
move to the Premier League.
Tottenham and Manchester United are two of the clubs cited in
the report as interested in his signature.
