Hip-hop
sensation Youngsta CPT and crooner Craig Lucas have joined forces to give Kfm
listeners a taste of what a Cape Town Christmas should sound like.
The
two performed in front of a live studio audience on the Flash
Drive with Carl Wastie on Wednesday. Youngsta and Lucas sang a localized
version of the classic song Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

collaboration dubbed the Huawei KDay Festive Collab gave Capetonians a “festive
vibe” to remember and comes ahead of the music festival experience taking place

The
two artists are part of the festival’s line-up set to perform at Meerendal
Estate. The Flash Drive host Carl Wastie said they asked the duo to
come and “Capetonianize” Christmas, as it's not always about the snow falling.
Lucas
said that he was a huge fan of Youngsta CPT and was really excited to perform
with the hip-hop artist during the show's #FestiveVibes.
"I'm
hoping that this is like the way in there to more things... I want to impress him
today."
Youngsta
CPT said that Lucas had already impressed him with his performance.
Lucas, the
Voice SA season 2 winners, said he'll be spending Christmas with family at
his aunt's house.
"I
don't usually cook but I've been learning to cook and bake this year, so for
the first time I'm actually going make some dessert. I hope I don't poison the
family... but yeah we're just going meet up at my aunt's house. Everybody's
going to bring the thing that they make best."
Youngsta
said that it’s also important to teach the youth about a more realistic version
of Christmas.
"I
know it’s cool to have like the fictional version... the dwarfs and the snow
and the reindeer... but at the same time it's good to bring them down to
reality and let them know we've got our own version of Christmas."
