Champions League: Andy Robertson opens up on football regret

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has stated that he regrets pushing Barcelona forward Lionel Messi in the back of the head during the Champions League semi-final last season.
The Reds entered the second leg of the semi-final tie against Barcelona 3-0 down, which meant a miracle was needed for Liverpool to progress to the final.
Liverpool managed to win the second leg at Anfield 4-0, which saw the club progress to the final 4-3 on aggregate.
Robertson believes that the fact that Liverpool needed a miracle to progress meant it brought out the worst out of him. Champions League fans from around the globe can acquire Champions League Final Tickets online to make the most of its dazzling exhibitions.
Robertson’s Interview:
“When I look back on things I don’t really regret anything because I feel as if everything is an experience that makes you what you are,” Robertson told the Daily Mail.
“But I do look back at that moment with Messi as one regret. I don’t like seeing it. When I saw it afterward I was gutted.
“I have nothing but respect for him and Barcelona, but we went into that game with the attitude that we were 3-0 down, we needed a miracle, we needed something special and if that little thing stopped the best player in the world playing to his full potential…
“But I do regret it. That’s not me as a person. That’s not my personality. But that the night a lot of things happened that you don’t really remember.”
It It is good that Robertson has apologized for that particular moment. However, at the time, it made sense why he did it.

Liverpool needed everything to go their way that night, and with that being the case, they needed to get under Barcelona’s skin, as the Spanish giants did possess a 3-0 lead from the first leg.
Small moments such as Robertson pushing Messi were just a reminder to Barcelona that they weren’t leaving Anfield without going through a battle first.
You could argue that Robertson’s tactic somewhat worked, as Barcelona were very timid from that moment onwards.
